Reservations are required for all programs and may be made two weeks prior by calling (631) 581-1072.  There will be a fee of $4.00 per adult, $3.00 per child.  Children under 3 are free.

Downtown History Walk - Veteran's Area

As we walk, we will focus on the "downtown" or veteran's area of the old Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital.  Immerse yourself in the rich history of this special place.
 
Children's Fall Adventures

Children will have fun going for a short nature walk to collect fallen leaves from woodland trails.  They will then make leaf imprints to hang on their wall.

Enjoy the fall colors as we walk part of the Greenbelt Trail where the Nissequogue River meets the Long Island Sound.  On this moderate hike, we'll explore the beaches and woodland trails of the Nissequogue and Sunken Meadow State Parks.  Please wear hiking shoes.
 
Goofy Gourds
Fun For Kids - Ages 5 and Up

We'll supply the gourds and decorations, you supply the imagination!  Each child will transform their gourd into an animal to take home with them.  Be prepared for lots of laughs!  Do not wear good clothes.

Discover the feeding habits of owls with this hands-on program.  After dissecting an owl pellet, we will be able to reconstruct the skeletal remains of the animals eaten by the owl.

As we walk, discover how plants and animals deal with winter and some of the things that can be observed like oak apple galls, black knot fungus and patterns observed in the forest habitat due to soil and microclimate.
