About Us

Our Park

The Nissequogue River State Park is a unique park to say the least.  Located in the Town of Smithtown in the hamlet of Kings Park, it includes spectacular scenic sections from the Long Island Greenbelt Trail, open meadows, hardwood forests and a pond.  There are breathtaking views from the bluffs overlooking the Long Island Sound and the mouth of the Nissequogue River, with its saltwater wetlands and tidal flow.  The park also contains numerous historical buildings once used by the Kings Park Psychiatric Center.  There are also soccer fields and a 1.5 mile trail along the former railroad spur for walking, running and biking.  Other recreational uses include canoeing, boating, bird watching, photography and hiking.  The Nissequogue River State Park offers unlimited opportunities for cultural, environmental, recreational and historical uses.
